The items on offer are as diverse as the airport's 37 million passengers a year - ranging from guitars to gold necklaces - the auction raises substantial funds for charity." Items sold include electronics, sporting equipment, musical instruments, luggage, jewellery, alcohol, cosmetics, toys and clothing.
More than $70,000 was raised in 2014, and the airport is expecting to raise even more in 2015. "While we make every effort to return the hundreds of lost items that are left at Sydney Airport each year, many items remain unclaimed," Sydney Airport general manager corporate affairs Sally Fielke said. Members of the public will also be able to view the items at the auction site from 8am to 4.30pm on Friday, November 15, and from 8am on the day of the auction.
