McCarran Airport is the main commercial airport for the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County, Nevada. It is about 5 miles (8.0 km) south of downtown Las Vegas. It covers roughly 2,800 acres (1,100 ha), with four runways and two terminals. McCarran is owned by Clark County and operated by the Clark County Department of Aviation (DOA). The airport is named after former Nevada senator Pat McCarran (1876-1954). The airport is a focus city and the largest operating base for Allegiant Air and Southwest Airlines and crew and maintenance base for Spirit Airlines.
Las Vegas - McCarran Airport Baggage Auction (LAS) - Las Vegas Airport auctions are held Saturdays in the spring, typically May, by TNT Auction and include lost and found items, confiscated items as well as other items from other government agencies such as iPods, iPhones and iPads, to Apple computers and jewelry. Auction are held online, with pre-registration due no later than 24 hours before the online auction begins.
Often A physical auction is also held for vehicles, equipment and other auctionable items. Approximately 300-400 vehicles and a thousand other items will be up for bids.
The majority of the items up for bids are surplus items from agencies such as McCarren Las Vegas International Airport, the city of Las Vegas, the state of Nevada, Clark County School District, and Las Vegas Metro police. Las Vegas Metro Police get all the lost and found and unclaimed items from the airport.
The auction is held three times a year on Saturdays, with mandatory pre-registration.
Each auction includes many items like cars, trucks, firetrucks, police motorcycles, including some Harleys.
