MCO Airport Auctions and The Greater Orlando Florida International Airport Auctions
The Orlando Airport Baggage Auctions are controlled by the airport’s Lost and Found department. OIA Lost and Found receives approximately 3,200 items a month, according to the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. The OIA’s Lost and Found department recieves, belts, sunglasses, ID’s, and wallets are the most common items turned in to Lost and Found. The TSA officers from each checkpoint alone show up at Lost and Found at least twice a day with bins full. Only about 50 percent of the goods received by Lost and Found are reunited with their owners. By law GOAA has to retain the items for 30 days; the majority of goods remain in airport custody for 60 days before going to auction. Like GOAA, lost and found has the discretion to donate some goods to charity. Higher end goods like designer sunglasses, watches, cameras, and laptops are limited to online bidding, views online opens a week prior to each live auction of Lost and Found merchandise. Live auctions are held on the third Saturday of every month.
Most auctions at the Greater Orlando International Airport are hosted by George Gideon Auctioneers Inc..
